Forget Tesla Ultimate Sportscar is Electric Porsche 356
Jack Rickard has created what arguably is a more beautiful electric sports car than the press darling, the Tesla. This is a Beck 356 Speedster (replica Porsche 356) mated to a Netgain Warp 9 DC series electric motor.
On Jack’s website (http://www.evtv.me) is an incredibly detailed discussion on electric car conversion including the first project, the Beck Speedster and a second more comprehensive project, a 2009 Mini Clubman Sport.
You can actually purchase the Speedster on ebay currently.
You can see Jack’s Youtube Channel here.

That’s a car that deserved first rate batteries, let’s hope the price comes down to common man accessible levels. The silent running feature has been criticized as a hazard to pedestrians, etc. I think a blind person brought a lawsuit against an ev driver.
One wacky is the electric smart car, the show model comes with 2 different engine sound effects you can hear in this video

@Safe Jake: I agree these are challenges, but only problems to be solved. The upside are quieter neighborhoods, cleaner streets and less dependency on foreign oil among many other benefits.
I want this car! I saw on the ebay link you helpfully provided that the car is located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, only seven hours from me.

As you have mentioned it’s a electric car Tesla.
Well i think electric cars can’t give the efficiency of the original sports car. Those cars are really powerful and suitable for competition.
Sports cars are not all about speed. The MG Midget is a great sportscar, but no one ever accused it of being fast.
But electric cars are environmentally friendly.
Tesla is really a nice electric car as you have described it is Beck 356 Speedster. This will be a great invention for this sport.

Nice car
But i still prefer the Tesla Roadster…
The biggest concern for the custom built cars from my point of view is safety tho, especially with new technology… you just cant risk for the huge battery pack exploding without any warning… It could happen to cellphones, cars might be even worse =
Tesla is definitely making its mark in the exciting world of alternate fuel vehicles since they set the previous distance record for electric vehicles earlier in the year. A Tesla Roadster had the distinction of being the only vehicle able to complete the entire course of 241 miles in the Rallye Monte Carlo d’Energies Alternative. When this Roadster reached the finish line, it still had approximately 38 miles worth of energy remaining on the charge. It was not even breathing heavily!

I hear Matt Damon has one of these cars. You just cannot see Bourne driving around in a Tesla.

It’s a sad day indeed when being quiet is considered a crime.

The Type 356 cars that followed had a platform chassis like the Volkswagen, but retained the same basic mechanical lay-out and Kommenda’s distinctive body. Why change the chassis so soon? That is a question that might be asked about the myriad changes to Porsches ever since. The reason is simple; Porsche people are perfectionists and, because the cars have always been produced in relatively small quantities.
