With the very public breakup of Amanda Congdon and Rocketboom Founder Andrew Baron, there has been immense speculation as to who is replacing Amanda as the Rocketboom Front Person. Indeed these are large boots to fill, as Amanda has not just been the erstwhile NewsReader and on the spot Journalist but a willing participant in a number of characters including Amanda’s arch nemisis Kate Winkle (Kate is Hot) and Lorretta from RockDiggiti.

Amanda was also instrumental in bringing in the support team needed to run the short format video on a daily basis including her brother Andrew and her partner Mario Librandi. Although she credits Andrew Baron with the inspiration and drive behind the venture, it was obvious to many that Amanda’s on air persona and behind the camera efforts were instrumental to the success of the show.

The speculation on the Blogosphere is that Amber MacArthur of G4 Tech TV fame and diva of the Video blogosphere will replace Amanda. Her impressive list of productions include G4 Tech TV – Call for Help, commandN VideoCast, Gadgets and Gizmos, Inside the Net Podcast and Torrent also on G4 Tech TV.

He also never mentions what his replacement for Amanda might be, although I spent a dinner with him in Toronto at Mesh, where he was holed up with Amber MacArthur, the host of TechTV. And Amber is certainly talented enough to sit where Amanda sat, and very photogenic (see pictures at right). No reason to believe anything specifically happening, and Andrew’s interest in Amber might have been completely social. Still… if that hook-up is announced, remember you heard it here first.

Anyway, come Monday there will be a new temporary host on Rocketboom. Some people think it will be Amber Dawn MacArthur. I happen to have a video of her, with Marc Canter. They both thought they were posing for a picture, but I was actually taking a movie.

Amber has been fast friends with Andrew Baron, meeting at South by Southwest(Pictures), Torrent TV Show (Pictures) and Vloggercon Conferences (Pictures).

Amber has also been long time (blog time) prodigy of Leo Laporte of Twit.tv , the very popular Tech Talk Show. He hosts Call for Help with Amber, and supports her in Inside The Net, a Tech Interview podcast among other things.

Whoever takes over from Amanda will have some very large boots to fill. Amanda has indeed been the face of Rocketboom, which may have been part of the problem, and has built up a loyal following over the past year. The Ask a Ninja and Kate Winkle segments are inspired and shows the depth of talent of the Rocketboom team.
