More Rocketboom saga – Amanda puts her side

Even more was posted today on Amanda’s own blog about the split up at Rocketboom. Let me get the story so far. Amanada posts a video on her blog stating that she was leaving Rocketboom and was basically fired. Then Andrew posts note on the Rocketboom site saying she quit and was moving to LA to work.

Then Amanda posts again on her blog in a lengthy email stating that she was fired:

I am disheartened by Andrew Baron’s decision to spread misinformation. He knows I cannot move to LA without a job…but insists on spinning things this way to shore up his assertion that I am “walking away” from Rocketboom. I did not walk away. I did not accept Andrew’s idea of “partnership”. I’ll explain more a little further down.

Her story is that they had already decided together to move to LA for the production so that she could further her career. Then Andrew changed his mind about this and the basically fell apart from there. You can read the latest chapter here.

As everything the truth is somewhere in the middle. My take is that Amanda does really want to go to LA to pursue an acting career. Indeed she had recently signed an agency in Beverley Hills to manage her career. This obviously means she is impatient for her career to grow and couple that with the stunning success of Rocketboom, means her opportunity is now (as I am sure plenty of people have told her).

On Andrew’s side, this was his idea and he wants to maintain control over the show. He truely does believe that he gave Amanda this opportunity and it is his right to fulfil his direction regardless of what Amanda things. This of course holds truth because this is how many startups end up, just not in the public eye.

Whatever happens, this public breakup does two things. Firstly it means that they can’t work together anymore, and each can’t back down without losing face. Secondly it means that Rocketboom will evolve with a new host and a new reemphasis with Andrew.

Amanda will go on to be very successful and talented actor. We of course wish her well.
