First Natural Gas/Petrol/Electric Taxi for North America (Video)
The City of Boston has become the first municipality to approve the Ford Transit Connect for commercial use as a Taxi. With its standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and automatic transmission, the conventionally powered Transit Connect is expected to deliver an estimated 30 percent improvement in fuel economy versus many of traditional taxi blight otherwise known as the Ford Crown Victoria. I say the faster we bury the gas guzzling POS, the better.

Perhaps the only disadvantage of this fantastic invention is too low speed of this car, isn’t it?
Hmm no, it can travel highway speeds without an issue. However they designed as city vehicles which means no more that 70Km per hour (50mph) anyway.
NYC’s existing taxis are THE WORST. This won’t be as good as London’s taxis, but will cost half the price. Bring It On! As far as speed is concerned then 70kmph is not at all bad for going eco-friendly.
Well if the speed is good and the fuel used is eco friendly then why won’t anybody go for it… Thumbs up from my side to this invention. And cheers for all those people who agree to me…
The point is that this is the FIRST ever electric/LPG taxi to be authorized in the USA. This is a great step forward.
They meet all the needs of taxi drivers (including the headroom issue) AND they have a significantly lower total cost of ownership than those pig-of-a-Crown-Victoria.
That’s a good article about First Natural Gar/Petrol/Electric Taxi for North America (Video). Thanks for the info.

Hi Greg. Its great to finally see more eco-friendly products come into play now a days especially within the motor industry. This being the first, as you say, is a huge step forward. I can only see it progressing from this point on.

Mike´s last [type] ..WANTED USED TX1 TAXIS
Hello Greg. That is a great step forward. In the UK, we are yet to have an electric taxi that I am aware of, but we are striving to improve how green we are. The Boris bikes around the city is one example, encouraging people to stop using transport all the time when they can ride / walk.
Cheers take a look at http://www.benzev.co.nz
