“Lord of the Rings” fans are flocking to New Zealand, where the trilogy was filmed to see first hand where the successful film trilogy was made according to CNN.

Lord of the Rings Tours & Experiences by Southern Lakes Sightseeing have specialized Lord of the Rings tours. They include experienced storytellers that can accurately point out the scenery and more importantly the relevant sections of the movies. They also include props used in the film. This particular tour  was endorsed by Ian Brodie, the LOTR guidebook author.

If you prefer to see the sites by air, Glenorchy Air offers both ground and air tours to the various location sites here in the South Island of New Zealand. These include the locations used to represent Lothlorien, Amon Hen, Nen Hithoel, Amon Lhaw, Path Galen, Ford of Bruinen, The Pillars of the King on the River Anduin, and the site of Gandalf’s ride to Isengard.  They have both the three rings tour and the two rings tour. The also have an earth-based one ring walking tour around Queenstown environs.

Not to forget Wellington, the home of movie making in New Zealand, Wellington Rover has a complete full day Lord of the rings tour that includes the Outer Shire which is in Wellington’s Greenbelt, the Weta Cave and the Eva Dixons Cafe. This is followed by the  Miramar Peninsula for Movie Studio Drive Wellywood Suburbs, home of Weta Workshop and the Peter Jackson empire. One of the ultimate Lord of the Rings experience is Hobbiton. Situated in the 1250 acre Alexander Farm (which is a working sheep farm) Hobbiton is the Shire, home of Bilbo Baggins. Orginally developed in 1999 for 3 months of filming, the majority of the Shire remains for tourists and vistors. To many this is the highlight of a complete Lord of the Rings tour. This attraction is run by Hobbiton Tours. You can find tons of information here.
