Maori All Black team welcomed in Rotorua before Irish test
The Maori All Blacks are welcomed in Rotorua prior to taking on Ireland in the second match of the Sealord New Zealand Maori Centenary Series on Friday night at the Rotorua International Stadium.
“There is a great buzz around Rotorua at the moment and the team knows the whole town is behind them. The fact that we are about to play in the same place as the first ever game played by the New Zealand Maori Rugby team 100 years ago, is very special,” says New Zealand Maori Coach Jamie Joseph.
This year’s Sealord New Zealand Maori Centenary Series celebrates 100 years of the New Zealand Maori rugby team. To honour the anniversary, the 2010 team is playing a three-match series – with the first of two internationals matches getting under way against Ireland on Friday. The second international will be played next Wednesday 23 June against England in Napier.

I like the logo – it is laconic, stylish and truly cognizable. Having such a logo is a kind of marketing luck:)
All the best kiwis
I like watching rugby plays – they are thrilling and very courageous. But if someone offered me to participate in the game – I won’t do this, because rugby is not for women.
Cheers – KB
I don’t follow rugby so I wouldn’t know a great deal about the all blacks. I gotta say though, I was massively impressed with the New Zealand football team at the WC this summer. I thought they played quite well, especially with the group they were in.
Cheers, they did play well, but they HAD to win a game to move forward, not just not lose
I have two neighbors in my area that have played rugby. One is from New Zealand and the other is from England. They know each other pretty well and they love to joke about it. I’m also a woman and I don’t follow it much, but it seems like a crazy sport where everyone gets hurt. One of the guys has lots of gnarled fingers and the other guy has a huge scar on his leg from where it broke. I could never play that sport!
