Air New Zealand To Replace Domestic Fleet (Video)
Air New Zealand’s current single isle domestic fleet of 12 Airbus A320 and 17 Boeing 737s are up for replacement in the next 2 years. Both Boeing and Airbus are competing for the replacement contract.
Air New Zealand is also the launch partner for the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Air New Zealand has ordered 9 of the long distance jetliner with the delivery beginning 2013. The 787-9 is capable of carrying 250-290 passengers on routes of 8,600 to 8,800 nautical miles (15,900-16,300 kilometers). ANZ selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine to power its 787-9s.

Air New Zealand subsidiary Altitude will create the interiors for the aircraft based on the 3 class configuration currently used in the Boeing 747 and 777. Boeing appointed Altitude last month to create a 20 aircraft interior configuration for a major Northern Hemisphere carrier with an option of 20 more interiors. Altitude also creates interiors for V Australia (Virgin). Custom interiors are a small but growing market for airlines who offer high-premium class configurations such as Air New Zealand, Cathy Pacific, Virgin and Emirate Airlines. About 10% of the world’s airlines create customised interiors. Altitude also works on Boeing Business Jet custom interiors for businesses and wealthy clients.

2nd Comment Um… Bitch?

great vid,can u please tell me where u got that plane from? the 787-9
Interiors for the aircraft is looking fantastic, it’s looks very proffessional!
This video is so awesome….it’s about time that we are starting to see a change in flight improvisation. The music ain’t so bad neither
The 737 looks great. It’s about time their is an upgrade pretty much all mylife planes have been identical.
thanks for for the article and interesting and informative information.
boeing ftw
that was a good video. I think the competition between boeing and air bus is ridiculous. I don’t see how air bus competes considering they always delay their release dates.
The first 787 is expectd to enter airline service in winter 2010 with the All Nippon Airways. ILFC is its biggest customer looking for a total of seventy-four Boeing 787s, which included sixty-seven -8s and seven -9s
I love the way the have painted this jet. The way they have done the interior is crazy I guess the will traget business class.
The pics and vids look promising – great to see they are updating their planes. I often fly using them to and from London and have noticed they have been slipping a wee bit in the quality of their planes but this will definitely freshen them up!

Actually in 2006, Air New Zealand planned on laying off 25% of its corporate staff in a bid to shave expenses by about $30 million per year.
Air New Zealand cited stiff competition on popular New Zealand to Australia routes for contributing to their loss of profits totaling 55%.
It’s nice to see them back on their feet.
I like their inflight entertainment system, the AVOD. Sometimes I even feel a little reluctant to leave my seat when the plane arrived.
