Flight of the Conchords’ Murray Wants to be 007
New Zealand comic Rhys Darby interview on aussie TV show ROVE (with Rove McManus).
New Zealand stand-up comic, Rhys has gained fans around the world as Murray the Manager in Flight of the Conchords and Jim Carreys boss in the hit comedy Yes Man.
Probably best known for playing band manager Murray Hewitt in the Emmy-nominated hit TV series Flight of the Conchords, currently in its second series on-air. Rhys is also quite the film star playing Jim Carreys dorky boss in the international hit comedy Yes Man, and as one of the DJs in the comedy The Boat That Rocked, in cinemas next month, co-starring Rhys Ifans, Billy Nighy and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
A former soldier, he left the army in 1994 and went to uni, forming a comedy duo Rhysently Granted in 1996. After winning an open mic contest in Christchurch they went from performing in local venues to international comedy festivals. After performing his first solo show in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he moved to London in 2003 quickly becoming a cult figure on the British comedy scene, and getting gigs throughout Europe, Iceland, The Falklands and recently the Middle East. Hes also written and performed in six plays since 2000, four were solo productions in which he played all the roles.

thats because this was on tv way before boat that rocked came out.. but yes, he’s awesome!!!
