Kiwi Jetpack Gets Ready for Takeoff (Video)
Almost a year to the day after it first got worldwide attention, the Martin Jetpack is back on show at the United States’ annual EAA air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Christchurch’s Martin Aircraft Company is also announcing plans to allow the public to try out a “low, slow” version.
Christchurch will be the location for the first business offering jetpack flights, and the company plans to expand with franchises around the world.

I doubt I’ll be the first customer, but it certainly makes me think of the theme song to the Jetsons!

Wow, that is one cool jetpack – I have always wanted to be able to fly on one of those things since I was a little kid. Now if they could just shrink it down a bit.

Wow – excellent idea and one which I hope ‘takes off’ for you. Just watched the video, and I want one! Can see it being really useful for people getting to and from remote areas. Good luck!

Thats CRAZY
i hope he doesn’t hurt himself
Definitely an idea worth exploring but practical applications may be a long time away. It’s a matter of economics and like those future commercial flights to outer space, the indulgence of the wealthy and privileged.
I want one of these and I don’t care about the price!! I’m so glad it was a Kiwi that invented this machine – makes me very proud.

Wow excellent flying, I’m so glad. I appreciate your work and I wish you all the best.
Regards,
wow, it can fly for 30 mins? imagine the things you can do with that amount of time… although it looks quite huge and getting around may be close to impossible, with that attached to your back but i certainly would want to have one of those… im calling my mom to get me that toy pronto..
I hope this ‘takes off’! its great to see NZ pushing the boundaries and i think this concept could work – its only going to be for a minority with some cash, but imagine commuting to work like this in a big city – crazy!

That’s crazy! It must have escaped my attention when it first caught the world’s attention. I’ve only got one thing to say… I want one!
When I was growing up, there was a TV show like that. It looked so cool, to fly around w/a pack on your back. Now it would scare the pants off of me. I prefer to sit back and enjoy the views with my telescope binoculars. Cheers!

I always think of the dated jetpack from the James Bond movie but this has come a long way and looks very easy to control, I will be in line for one in the future. Also a message to Kiwibloke, I enjoy your blog, lots of great stuff.
