Shooting in RAW in Las Vegas

The above picture was shot with a 28-300mm Sigma Digital Lens (f2.8) and was taking as part of a shoot in Vegas. There was a lot going on so I didn’t really have a lot of time to react.

Although I didn’t do very much post-production on these, I was trying to get the flavor of the event itself, tons of very different lights, outside at night and a lot of fast action, the results were very satisfactory.
As with other enthusiast amateurs I tend to shoot in JPEG because I am more interested currently in concentrating on my camera skills rather than my photoshop skills but that will probably change over time as I make less mistakes. Here is a good example of a picture that had the potential but I made a mistake with the depth of field. I had set a small depth of field for the synchronized swimmers but forgot to set it back to a deep depth of field for this one:

But the last photo looks like the environment was dark. If you increased the depth of field, the shutter speed might get too slow.
