Many years ago, New Zealand rejected my visa application. Recently, NZ rejected me yet again.
Are they now just going to let a reprobate like me into the Country just because I win a contest?
I would be interested in having this question answered before I enter.
I would hate to have my heart broken again.
The first time I applied, I was young, a college graduate, and a teacher of science.
However, then, NZ told me I had neither skills they needed nor enough savings to immigrate.
Now that I have the money, they tell me I’m too old, so they won’t take me again.
With the record I have with the NZ immigration authorities, my application for entrance to New Zealand would be rejected unless this contest group has some special exemption.
That is, if a person has a history of being turned down for immigration, New Zealand generally will not issue a visitors visa because they are afraid the person won’t leave after the visa expires.
Any comments would be appreciated from your readers.
I am rather jealous of the millions of people who seem to be able to simply enter and leave New Zealand at will without the authorities giving them the slightest bit of trouble.
With me, I’ve never had the privilege of even visiting NZ.
I have no criminal record of any kind, no diseases, am a college graduate (actually a PhD now), and have sufficient resources.
However, now I am evidently being discriminated against because of my age.
I’ve lived a happy life in the US, and believe I have contributed to our society.
So perhaps that’s the way it should have been.
Still, it is a sore point with me that NZ saw fit not to allow me to assist NZ’s effort to lead the world in science.
It would have been my privilege, one that NZ evidently didn’t judge appropriate to grant.

When you read this, it will sound like it was a bad trip. It was not. Yes, I was physically uncomfortable for large portions of the trip, but it was worth it. And you should not avoid NZ because of the weather: the rains were so heavy that there was flooding in Kaikoura, Milford, and Greymouth. (By contrast, my friend Amy went a month later and reported beautiful weather 80% of the time.) Furthermore, large portions of the discomfort could have been avoided if I had packed better wet-weather gear.
It’s really interesting! I think this kind worth contest is worth taking part in it and to win this fairytale travelling!
