Turoa Ski Field Getting Ready for New Season
As winter snow time approaches, New Zealand’s ski areas are already busy preparing for another bumper 2010 ski season with many new developments designed to enhance the Kiwi ski holiday experience.
Turoa Ski Area on the south-western slopes of Mt Ruapehu has Australasia’s longest vertical descent and New Zealand’s highest lift.
There is a good mix of beginner, intermediate, and expert skiing routes. There is a mix of natural pipes, steep drops, fast plains, and easy slopes to suit the needs of all skiers and boarders. With over 400 hectacres (1000 acres) and 720 metres (2362 feet) vertical, Turoa offers plenty of variety. The skifield is reached via the Mountain Road from the town of Ohakune.

For a minute there I thought I was reading an old content from your blog. Winter is already over in the northern hemisphere. LOL! Then I realized this is New Zealand and winter time is like opposite there. But I just love skiing trips. One of my favorite activities during winter.
Umm yes, the Southern Hemisphere is marching towards winter. Which also means we are about to be inundated with Aussie Skiers.
That’s really great that there is a porssibility to enjoy skiing even during the summer – it is necessary just to change location!
And hemisphere to be correct.
Although I am not so good at skiing, it would be interesting to visit this resort.
my family would always like to go on ski holidays because it is very enjoyable *-:
