Time Lapse Film – Earnslaw Steam Ship, Queenstown, New Zealand
TSS Earnslaw is a staple resident on Lake Wakatipu, the long deep lake that Queenstown resides on. One of the pleasant pass time is watching the comings and goings on the waterfront. Here is a time lapse video of the Earnslaw docking at the Queenstown dock. [Credit: Richard Jones]
The TSS Earnslaw is a 1912 Edwardian vintage twin screw steamer plying the waters of Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. It is one of the oldest tourist attractions in Central Otago, and the only remaining passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere. [Wikipedia]

The ship works fourteen hour days in the summer months and cruises for 11 months of the year, despite being over 98 years old. Visitors to the region can undertake a 1.5 hour cruise on board the TSS Earnslaw and view the workings of the steam engine and stokers (the people who shovel the coal).

Wow, that is one gorgeous boat! I’m a sucker for time lapse videos and observing things at slow speeds. This is definitely one of the best I’ve seen for a while.
This is like my fourth time stopping over your homepage. I always love the content and the way you write. Very smooth and instructive at the same time.

nice ship… thnx for the post
If i ever go there i will take a ride with that beautiful ship.
Thanks for this charming video. I loved the soundtrack, too. I loved Queenstown and wish I would have gone on board the Earnslaw for a cruise around beautiful Lake Wakatipu. I did get a very lovely shot of the Steamship Earnslaw with the backdrop of the Remarkables, which you can see here.

I have recently visited this place and I love to visit there. thanks to my Travel agents who suggest me to visit there.
I think it would be great to have a voyage in this old Steamer on Lake Wakatipu. You obviously have a great love of these ships. It looks great for its age, 98 years and still going strong. Its owners must love it too. I would hope however it doesn’t’ go quite as fast in reality as it did in you video. Very enjoyable video and article.
Thanks.
